WHO WE ARE

We are the Gamma Chapter of Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Incorporated.

Our seven founding mothers established the first chapter of Kappa Phi Lambda at Binghamton University on March 9, 1995.

On November 16, 1997, our five charter sisters established the third chapter of Kappa Phi Lambda: the first Asian-interest sorority on the Syracuse University campus.

SISTERHOOD

Although it is difficult to describe, the bond of sisterhood is a common light that burns passionately in each sister.

We embrace a unique relationship based on friendship, respect, and a shared vision. Wherever we go, and no matter how long ago we were initiated, each sister is connected and important to the sorority.

With a network of sisters spanning across the globe, we can find comfort in knowing that Kappa extends so much further beyond our own universities!

There's no sisterhood like the Kappa sisterhood.

SERVICE

As much as we like to have fun, we also stress the importance of giving back to our community. Each semester, sisters participate in a variety of events to help raise money for charity, bring awareness to important causes, and make Syracuse a better place.

Our national philanthropy is CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty.

Our local philanthropy is Vera House, a local organization dedicated to helping women and children suffering from domestic and sexual abuse. Like Vera House, we strive to promote equality and respect.

CULTURAL DIVERSITY

We are an Asian-interest sorority but NOT Asian-exclusive. We believe in promoting awareness of all cultures. We attend many cultural events held throughout the school year by different organizations.

During our founding week in November, we host Asian Awareness Week where a variety of events highlight different aspects of Asian cultures.

Every March, we join our sisters across the nation in hosting Spirit of the Phoenix Week events to promote diversity, philanthropy, and women's empowerment.

We also participate in Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, which is held annually in April at Syracuse University.

NATIONWIDE

27 years after our first chapter was founded, our sisterhood is over 3,000 strong.

We represent all different nationalities and ethnicities, while keeping in mind common goals.

Our Sisters have travelled far and wide and represent our sorority all around the globe and in all kinds of occupations. Our strong network of welcoming Sisters continues to grow and expand, allowing for an endless amount of memories.

OUR COUNCIL

Our chapter is the founding member of the Multicultural Greek Council.

Throughout the year, we collaborate with our fellow council members, Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity, Inc., Lambda Phi Epsilon International Fraternity, Inc., Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc., and alpha Kappa Delta Phi International Sorority, Inc. to promote diversity on campus.
